We were hoping to get a story out this week, but we’re going to have to put it off until later this week because I am getting married and Dave is here as well. For now I’ll just leave you with this picture of the Church of San Augustin in Paoay, Philippines.
The church is one of several that collectively compose a UNESCO site in the Philippines. A unique earthquake Baroque constructed from 1694 to 1719, it was built with Chinese and Filipino design elements and even had coral used in its construction. Like the earthquake Baroque church in Santa Maria it was used by Revolutionaries during the Philippine Revolution and guerrillas in World War II. These things are as close to a non-military fortress as you can get.
