SM-2 Wartime Civilians in Monpe I

This set contains three unpainted 28mm metal miniatures.

A trio of civilian women dressed in common wartime clothing, particularly monpe. Traditional peasant work pants made of old kimono; these became the female equivalent of the mens’ national clothes or kokumin fuku. Two are dressed in the full monpe outfit with pants and top made of kimono, and the third is wearing a plain blouse. Painted examples are resin prototypes for illustrative purposes.

Painting Suggestions

Since monpe were homemade from material you had available, these could be painted in many different color schemes with or without decorative patterns. For more variety you can mix and match the pants, tops, hoods and bags as all items were homemade. Having one with a grey top next to another with grey pants could imply friends or family that borrow clothes or made them from the same material. It’s another small way one can tell stories with miniatures.
